This is a guide on how to cite our content.
Purpose
A citation is a reference to a published or unpublished source (and not always the original source).
It denotes an entry in the bibliographic references section of the work for the purpose of acknowledging the relevance of the works of others to the topic of discussion at the spot where the citation appears.
A prime purpose of a citation is intellectual honesty; to attribute to other authors the ideas they have previously expressed, rather than give the appearance to the work's readers that the work's authors are the original wellsprings of those ideas.
There are numerous styles of citation and as none of these are completely satisfactory for citing the content of a weblog, we at History Hunters International recommend this system.
Citing History Hunters International
The only content published in the name of History Hunters International is our blog posts.
Our members may chose to publish under their own name, or that of a pseudonym. Either way, we strongly advise citing only History Hunters International. This is how:
1. Online citation
The archaeology of Alexander the Great: 1. Coins at History Hunters International (2010)
The format being:
"Blog post title" at History Hunters International (year)
and the title hyperlinked to the original post, at this URL:
http://historyhuntersinternational.org/2010/03/25/the-archaeology-of-alexander-the-great-1-coins/
Please note that the date of first publication is contained within the URL: 2010/03/25
2. Offline citation
The correct format is:
"Blog post title" at History Hunters International (year). Retrieved from (url)
Using the above blog post as the example, this appears as:
The archaeology of Alexander the Great: 1. Coins at History Hunters International (2010). Retrieved from http://historyhuntersinternational.org/2010/03/25/the-archaeology-of-alexander-the-great-1-coins/
