England: Denarius (possibly plated) of Septimius Severus (RIC IV 308) from Saxton, North Yorks - reverse

Object Type:    Coin
(?Silver plated) denarius of Septimius Severus (193-211), VOTA SVSCEPTA XX, prototype from Rome Mint, AD 202-210. See RIC IV, 308.
The finder of the coin states that the coin is very dark green in colour. It does seem that there is a sign of a base-metal core at 7.30 (on the obverse). Both suggest that this is a plated copy but inspection of the actual coin would be needed to be certain. Copies of Severan period denarii are very common as site-finds in Britain.

The finder stated that it is "very dark green in color..." Perhaps he means 'was'?, as in when it was first found, and not 'is', because it isn't green now. It doesn't seem to me that plating would have lasted this long, to the extent shown here, especially if there was corrosion making it 'very dark green'. Odd.
