The picture underneeth shows you the result of a magnetometer search of the ship Amsterdam of the VOC which stranded at Hastings  UK . The search was done by Jeremy Green . It showed variaties of the earth magnetic field because of iron present . Especialy important  are two iron masses ( ballast ) on the bottom of the ship at A and B .The fact that these masses are orientated to the East of the centerline of the ship ackknowledges the conclusion made by surface inspection done earlier that the ship was leaning slightly to the West . The iron ballast was situated at a depth of  8-9 meters ( 25- 28 Ft ) . Cornelius
