Description:

Vintage Ho Chunk Porcupine Quill Beaded Pierced Earings, made at Black River Falls Wisconsin. Long an lovely Native American beadcraft of blue, yellow, red, and orange seed beads to set off the four ivory and brown porcupine quills each earing has. Delicate to behold, yet vibrant enough to make a statement, at five and one half inches long they will be noticed. They have silver wire loop clasps for pierced ears. Not many Native American artists work with real porcupine quills anymore, so these are quite unique and hard to come by. Ho Chunk beadwork is always circular or continuous, reflecting the circle of life.

Archaeology (42 files)

Archaeology, archeology, or arch?ology (from the Greek words αρχαίος = ancient and λόγος = word/speech/discourse) is the study of human cultures through the recovery, documentation and analysis of material remains and environmental data, including architecture, artefacts, biofacts, human remains, and landscapes.

The goals of archaeology are to document and explain the origins and development of human culture, understand culture history, chronicle cultural evolution, and study human behavior and ecology, for both prehistoric and historic societies. It is considered in North America to be one of the four sub-fields of anthropology.
