Baltic and International Maritime Council
Internet site for Baltic and International Maritime Council, an international association of companies involved in many aspects of shipping. Founded in 1905 as The Baltic and White Sea Conference, the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) is now the world's largest private shipping organisation with 2,720 members worldwide. The site is arranged into a membership area requiring registration and a public area freely available to web users. Free information covers the history and work of the organisation, details of courses and publications offered by the Council and the latest shipping news and story summaries. Members have access to the extensive maritime databases including those listing international shipping contacts and vessel flag related issues. The site has a search engine.

Canadian Maritime Law Association
Official website for the Canadian Maritime Law Association (CMLA), an independent body working with government to develop legal provision for maritime commerce and marine transportation in Canada. The Association also represents Canada within the international shipping community working towards uniform development of Canadian and international maritime laws. The website provides information about the CMLA's organisational structure with contact details for the Executive and working Committees, supported by online reports originally presented to Annual General Meetings by the President and individual Sub committees. The report collection commences with 1998. The site also features a what's new and events listing, Bulletin Board and selection of maritime law and admiralty links to other relevant Internet sites. Some sections of the site are password protected for members only.

Canadian Waters
A website containing information about the oceans surrounding Canada, provided by the Canadian Government. The site offers readers the chance to comment on Canada's Ocean Strategy (available in full-text, using Adobe Acrobat). Policies and legislation relating to the oceans are available in full. There is considerable background information, ranging from a list of university ocean research centres to a list of marine-based industries. The site covers environmental, economic and political marine issues. This siote was formerly named "Oceans Canada".

Comit? Maritime International
Official website for the non-governmental international organisation established in 1897 to promote the unification of maritime law. The site publishes background information on the history and development of CMI, supported by online copies of the constitution and rules of procedure. The CMI Newsletter is carried by the site from 1999 onwards as Adobe Acrobat PDF files. Other online texts in HTML format include the CMI Uniform Rules for Sea Waybills and CMI Rules for Electronic Bills of Lading. An interactive map gives access to information on member associations of the CMI. The site also features a listing of the status of ratifications to maritime conventions. A collection of notes of Jurisprudence on interpretation of maritime conventions, listed by convention and then under jurisdiction is also available.

Council on Ocean Law
Council on Ocean Law website, established to serve as a reference centre, document library, and guide to information related to: the development and application of ocean law, including the Law of the Sea (LOS) Convention, its status and application; the United States position and actions with regard to the convention; and ocean policy issues in the US and other countries and organizations. The site intends to be a reference source for practitioners, politicians, educators and students. The site provides the text of ocean conventions (such as the Law of the Sea Convention 1982 and 1994 agreement) in full HTML format with commentary on their status. Further sections of the site highlight new information, identify US positions and statements, and list publications and details of COL officers and Board of Directors. Additional links to other law of the sea and related sites on the web are also provided.

International Maritime Organization (IMO)
The International Maritime Organization was established in 1959 with the purpose of providing a forum for intergovernmental cooperation regarding shipping engaged in international trade. Its current areas of activity include: maritime safety, marine pollution, international trade, navigation techniques and technical matters effecting shipping. Its website offers a description of the history and purpose of the IMO and a list of its members. It also includes summaries of all the conventions and treaties adopted since its origin. Information on publications can also be accessed. This includes the full-text of all press releases from 1996 onwards and the contents of 'IMO News', the quarterly newsletter of the IMO which gives summaries of current projects, from 1996 onwards. Other features are the transcripts of selected recent speeches made by the Secretary General, reports of recent meetings and bibliographies of recent news articles relating to maritime issues which have appeared in the press.

International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea
website of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea a judicial body established by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and based in Hamburg in Germany. The site provides background information about the Tribunal and the Convention. The Tribunal is made up of various Chambers including the Seabed Disputes Chamber, the Chamber of Summary Procedure, the Chamber for Fisheries Disputes and the Chamber for Marine Environment Disputes. The site has profiles of the Tribunal judges and provides guidance to the procedures. Proceedings and judgements of cases heard by the Tribunal are presented on the website and can be viewed as Word or PDF documents. Further documents relating to the Tribunal and its work are provided online in Word and PDF formats. These include agreements, statutes, rules and regulations and a copy of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

OceanLaw
OceanLaw is a Website created by barrister Christopher Hedley. The site includes a discussion list established as a forum for the exchange of ideas relating to international fisheries law, marine environmental issues and the law of the sea. There is guidance to using the list along with a selection of FAQs. The site also provides access to an Internet Guide to International Fisheries Law containing links to international treaties, organisations and other legal documentation.

Oceans and Law of the Sea
Internet site publishing Law of Sea resources and related links developed by the Office of Legal Affairs at the United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea. The site presents unedited advanced texts and official reports and resolutions of the Secretary-General; the full-text and an overview of UNCLOS (the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) and related agreements with status information on ratifications and accessions; links to key cases before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea; and documents from the Commission on the Limits of the Continential Shelf. Some French text materials are included. The site also provides links to Marine Resources, International Organisations and Institutions. The site has a keyword search facility.

Tetley's Maritime and other Law
A collection of materials and Web links on maritime law and other commercial legal issues, compiled by Professor William Tetley, Faculty of Law, McGill University and made freely available on the Internet. A site index and search facility give access to on-site materials. Materials available on the site include: Glossaries and tables of international conventions, national laws (Canada, USA, UK, France and China), and legal terms and abbreviations; Commentary and draft instruments from the CMI (Comite Maritime International); online chapters from the 4th edition of Professor Tetley's book on Marine Cargo Claims (due for print publication March 2004); recent lectures by Professor Tetley and other McGill Faculty of Law Course materials; a series of law questions and answers. The site is arranged in sections covering International maritime Law; Canadian Maritime Law (with annual summaries of Canadian Maritime legislation and decisions); and sections looking briefly at conflict of law; comparative law; carriage of goods by sea; political and historical issues.
