Middle Bronze Age gold ?composite? rings

Composite rings from the Middle Bronze Age (c.1550-1100BC) are rare finds, there being about thirty other examples known from the British Isles. This collection of seven, plus two single rings, is the largest number found together, the previous highest total being six composite rings found threaded onto a penannular bracelet at Streatham, Cambridgeshire. Their function is unknown, although they were presumably used as some form of adornment.

Found at Gresham in north Norfolk and purchased through the Treasure Act with financial assistance from The Friends of Norwich Museums, The Victoria and Albert Purchase Grant Fund and the Art Fund NWHCM : 2005.517
