t's time to start thinking about your entry for the 2007 Award!!
The 2007 Award is all about monuments and memorials. If you enter, you will discover loads more about the history and archaeology of where you live. AND you could win loads of fantastic prizes too!
West Kennet Long Barrow, a monument to our dead ancestors from prehistory

The Award is organised by YAC and is open to all children aged 8-16 who live in the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. You just need to like history and archaeology!

There are three categories in the Young Archaeologist of the Year Award:

    * Individual 8-11
    * Individual 12-16
    * Schools/Groups (for school classes and organised youth groups and clubs)

For this year's Award, YAC challenges you to choose five local monuments and memorials and put together a trail so that visitors can find out more about the history and archaeology of your area.

All sorts of things can be monuments and memorials:

    * stone circles and standing stones
    * burial tombs and barrows
    * statues
    * plaques
    * war memorials
    * clocks
    * gardens
    * buildings
    * gravestones
    * and much more!

Booklet

contact the Young Archaeologists' Club for a leaflet explaining how to enter (please send an A5-sized SAE).
